Get selected and then pay to play, Is this fair?

While Indian shooting fraternity celebrates the double gold won by Gagan Narang at the Asian Air Gun Championship in Doha, some of the juniors must be heart broken for not being able to make it to the asian event even after getting officially selected by NRAI. The shooters were left behind as the sports ministry did not sanction the tour for them.

It is also learnt that a few other selected juniors have travelled at their own cost. Promising junior shooters Bibaswan Ganguly and Deepika Patel could have added more medals for India in the air rifle and air pistol events but were left behind even after their names were registered for the events.

The question is even if the sports ministry does not sanction, why do selected shooters need to spend from their own pockets or are left behind, why cant the NRAI use their funds to help these youngsters, why do promising shooters need to suffer like this. indianshooting.com
