In a serious breach of security, a rifle has gone missing from the strong room of the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, India’s premier shooting facility. The rifle belongs to a top shooter who is set to compete at the ongoing Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

The athlete, who did not wish to be named, discovered the rifle missing a few days ago. Since then, the shooter has been frantically searching for it, but without success. The matter has been brought to the attention of range officials.

Authorities have yet to confirm how the rifle disappeared or whether foul play is suspected. No official statement has been issued so far.

The incident has raised serious concerns about security protocols and the monitoring of equipment stored in the range’s strong room.

For the athlete, the loss is not just financial but also a significant disruption to preparations for upcoming competitions.

An inquiry is expected to be launched to trace the missing rifle.
