Young and talented shooter Manu Bhaker asserted her class by winning gold in Women’s 10m Air Pistol at the 1st Khelo India School Games in New Delhi.
The 15-year-old Manu, who has qualified for the Youth Olympics later this year, shot 241.1 in the finals to rewrite her own final national record of 240.5 set at the National Shooting Championship in December, last year.
Manu started the finals with a near-perfect score of 10.8 and was well in control throughout to win the gold with a big margin of 6.4 points.
Earlier in the qualification, Manu shot a very impressive score of 387, that broke the junior national record of 385 set by Malaika Goel in 2013.
Led by Manu, the Haryana girls made it a clean sweep by claiming the top three positions. Haryana’s domination was emphasised by the presence of five shooters from the state in the finals.

Manu had won gold medals with new national records in all three categories — women, junior and youth — of the air pistol at the National Shooting Championship in Thiruvananthapuram in December, last year.
