Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal continued her impressive run as she won both the senior and junior women’s 10m air rifle (T7) for the second day in a row at the ongoing National Selection Trials in New Delhi.
The 19-year-old Mehuli had won the same two events at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range on Tuesday in the Trial (T6) as well.
Mehuli, who has seven international medals to her name over the last two years, clinched the title in a quality field comprising the world’s top three shooters to win the senior final with a score of 251.9.
World No. 3 Elavenil Valarivan of Gujarat, who topped the qualification with 631.1, finished second with 251.0.
Mehuli then went on to win the junior final with a score of 252.7, just 0.2 point off World No. 1 Apurvi Chandela’s world record of 252.9.
Shreya Agrawal of Madhya Pradesh lost her second final in two days to Mehuli, finishing behind her in the Trial (T6) for seniors yesterday and then again in the Trial (T7) for juniors on Wednesday, where she finished with a score of 252.0.
Aakriti Dahiya of Haryana finished third.
Tokyo Olympic quota winners Anjum Moudgil Apurvi finished 4th and 6th respectively.
Zeena Khitta of Himachal Pradesh won the youth women’s 10m air rifle with 251.1. Atmika Gupta of Rajasthan took the second spot with 248.8 while Aakriti claimed another third place finish of the day, just after the one in junior final.
Zeena had also won the Trial (T6) in the same event on Tuesday.
Khushi Saini of Punjab, who won the junior silver in Trial (T6), was the other standout performer, making it to all three finals.
