ISSF World Cup LogoZoravar Singh Sandhu was in superb form but missed the last target of the 7th series and a bronze medal in the Men Trap at ISSF World Cup in New Delhi.

After being in the lead for the most part along with Italy’s Simone DÔÇÖ Ambrosio and Giovanni Pellielo, Zoravar probably lost the rhythm and missed three of the last 10 targets.

The 39-year-old Zoravar was also impressive in the qualification after shooting 118 (23,24,23,24,24) to qualify for the finals with the fourth best score.

Zoravar who had won a bronze at the World Cup in Changwon in 2007 eventually finished 4th with a score of 28.

The 20-year-old Simone DÔÇÖAmbrosio, Junior World Champion, competing in his first international finals among the seniors, won the gold ahead of the four-time Olympic medallist, the 46-year-old Giovanni Pellielo.

It overwhelming,ÔÇØ said DÔÇÖAmbrosio, not only this is the my first final among the seniors, but I had to face the best trap shooters of the world. It has been a tough competition, here in New Delhi. But luckily I made it. Now I have to book another trip to India: I qualified for the world cup final, that will take place here in October.ÔÇØ

The bronze was won by 2010 World Champion Alberto Fernandez of Spain, collecting his seventh World Cup medal.

Fernando Borello of Argentina, 37, and Owen Robinson of New Zealand, 25, both competing in their first world cup final match, closed the round in 5th and 6th place, with 24 and 17 hits, respectively.

Olympian Kynan Chenai shot 113 to finish 15th.
