Lajja Goswami
Achal Pratap Grewal won the individual and team gold in Junior Men’s 25m Standard Pistol in the 13th Asian Shooting Championship in Kuwait on Sunday. He had Rituraj Singh and Shivam Shukla for company on the podium.
In the senior men’s category, Mahendra Singh won the silver, nine points behind Jang Dae Kyu of Korea while Gurpreet Singh shot 567 to finish fifth. With Neeraj Kumar shooting a below par 537, the Indian team was pushed to the bronze behind Korea and China.
2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Lajja Goswami made the finals of the Women’s 50m Rifle Three Position, but could only manage a seventh place finish. The Indian team, with Anjum Moudgil and Elizabeth Susan Koshy as the other members, had confirmed the bronze on Saturday, after the elimination round.
The Indian contingent took its tally to 16 gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals.
