Akhil Sheoran, who won a World Cup gold just three days back in Mexico, finished a disappointing 33rd at the 7th World University Shooting Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 22-year-old Akhil shot a below par qualification score of 1122 (Kneeling 376, Prone 393, Standing 353), which is 42 points lower than what he had shot in Mexico.
Navdeep Singh Rathore finished 10th with a score of 1157 (Kneeling 386, Prone 391, Standing 380), missing the finals by a point.
The third Indian in the event, Fateh Singh Dhillon shot 1105 (Kneeling 357, Prone 391 Standing 357) to finish 36th.
The gold was won by Italy’s Lorenzo Bacci with a score of 451.0. The silver was won by Lukas Eugen Fischer of Germany with 450.6 while Finland’s Joni Stenstrom took the bronze with 437.7.
