    India traps silver at Asian Shotgun Championship

    logo_6th-asian-shotgun-championship1Prithviraj Tondaiman could not carry his superb form to day two and eventually finished 5th in Men’s Trap at the 6th Asian Shotgun Championship in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

    Prithviraj who shot a perfect score of 75/75 in the first three rounds on day one, missed three targets (22,24) this morning, however his qualification score of 121 was good enough to see him through to the knock-out phase. In the semifinals, he shot 12 and lost the tie-breaker 4-5 to Abdulrahman Al Faihan of Kuwait, competing as an ‘’Independent Shooting Participant (ISP)’’.

    The Indian trio of Prithviraj, Zoravar Singh Sandhu (119) and Kynan Chenai (115) won the team silver behind the ‘’Independent Participants’’ who swept the individual medals.

    Former world champion Khaled Almudhaf won the gold 14-13 against Talal Alrashidi. Interestingly, Khaled won the shoot-off with Savate Sresthaporn of Thailand to be eligible for the gold match after being tied on 13 in the semifinals. He had topped the qualification with 122.

    Zoravar Singh Sandhu missed the final by a point to finish 7th with a score 119.

    Olympian Kynan Chenai finished 16th with a score of 115 (21,23,24,25,22).
