Sheeraz Sheikh missed the final of men’s skeet by three points on the concluding day of the ISSF World Cup in Al Ain, UAE.
Sheeraz registered 22 and 23 in the first two rounds and missed only one target in the last three rounds but still could not make the cut for the finals in a highly competitive field in which three shooters with a score of 122 missed out on the final, in the shoot-off.
While Sheeraz was the best placed among the three Indians at 31st, Asian champion Angad Vir Singh Bajwa also shot 119 for the 43rd place.
Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan shot 116 to finish 69th in a field of 125 shooters.
Mansour Al Rashedi of Kuwait won the gold with 56 hits while the silver was won by Jesper Hansen of Denmark with 54. Both Mansour and Jesper also won the Olympic quotas on offer. Luke Peter Argiro of Australia, who equalled the world record of perfect 125 in qualification, took the bronze with 42.
