    Olympian Kynan Chenai of Telangana won the gold medal in men’s trap at the 62nd National Shotgun Championship in Jaipur.

    The 27-year-old Kynan pipped the Asian Games silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran of Haryana by one point (43-42) in the final.

    Earlier, both Kynan and Lakshay made it to the final after shooting a qualification score of 118 each.

    Prithviraj Tondaiman of Tamil Nadu, who registered an impressive 124 in the qualification, took the bronze with 33 hits.

    Experienced Zoravar Sandhu of Punjab, who had qualified with the second best score of 121, finished 4th while former world champion Manavjit Sandhu shot 116 and missed the final by one point.

    Veteran shooter Mansher Singh of Punjab, who is also the national shotgun coach, shot 113 to finish 19th in a field of 171 shooters.

    In the junior category, Lakshay won the gold with an impressive 47 in the final. The silver was won by Manavaditya Rathore of Rajasthan with 39 while Delhi’s Vrishankaditya Parmar took the bronze with 33.

    Shardul Vihan, the 15-year-old Asian Games silver medallist in double trap, shot 113 to qualify for the final but was first to be eliminated and took the 6th place.

    Junior Men’s Trap: 1. Lakshay Sheoran (Haryana) 47 (118); 2. Manavaditya Rathore (Rajasthan) 39 (115); 3. Vrishankaditya Parmar (Delhi) 33 (113). Team: 1. Rajasthan (335); Haryana (333); Delhi (323).
