Mohinder Lal, an Olympian shooter and former national pistol coach, passed away at the age of 72 in New Delhi.
An Arjuna awardee, Mohinder Lal had competed in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, and had placed 34th in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol with a score of 577.
Mohinder Lal was born on 24th February 1947 and participated in his first international competition at the age of 33. Between 1980 and 1990 he represented India in several international competitions. His last major competition was the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing where he shot 567 to finish 7th in standard pistol.
This is a great loss to the shooting fraternity. He will always be remembered as a fine gentleman and a great shooter of his times.
The cremation took place in Dwarka in the national capital on Sunday afternoon.
