    Olympian Gurpreet Singh won the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol (T1) at the ongoing selection trials being held in New Delhi.

    Gurpreet of Army shot the best qualification score of 580 and then registered 21 to win the finals, a point ahead of another Armyman Neeraj Kumar.

    Shivam Shukla of Air Force came 3rd with 17.

    Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anish Bhanwala was not at his best and was placed 9th with 569.

    In the newly introduced women event, Niveditha Nair of Tamil Nadu topped with 540, beating Abhidnya Patil by one point. Olympian Annu Raj Singh was third after being tied on 533 with Neha.

    NRAI is conducting the rapid fire pistol event for women, without any final, as it would be fielding a mixed team in the ISSF World Cups.

    Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol: 1. Gurpreet Singh (Army) 21 (580); 2. Neeraj Kumar (Army) 20 (577); 3. Shivam Shukla (Air Force) 17 (571).

    Women’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol: 1. Niveditha Nair (Tamil Nadu) 540; 2. Abhidnya Patil (Maharashtra) 539; 3. Annu Raj Singh (Air India) 533.
