Visnu Shivaraj Pandian of India shot the best qualification score of 629.7 in 10m Air Rifle to qualify for the ‘Champion of Champions’ event at the ongoing President of Indonesia Open Tournament on Thursday.

The 16-year-old Visnu, who trains at the Delhi-based Topgun Shooting Academy, is the only Indian to qualify for the USD 4500 prize money event to be held on Sunday.

Visnu had recently outgunned big names like Austria Olympic quota winner Martin Strempfl and World No.27 Etienne Germond of France to win gold in 10m air rifle at the 5th edition of the International Online Shooting Championship (IOSC) organized by indianshooting.com.

In women’s 10m air rifle, 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medallist Mehuli Ghosh of India finished 9th after scoring 624.5 on Wednesday.

World No.6 in women’s 10m air rifle and 2018 Asian Games silver medallist Jung Eunhea of Korea registered the second best score of 629.5 while her compatriot Keum Jihyeon, who had won bronze at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Beijing, shot the third best score of 628.4.

The ‘Champion of Champions’ will be held on the concluding day of the five-day competition being organised by the Indonesian Shooting Association.
