Ace shooters Yashaswini Deswal and Anmol Jain combined to clinch the gold medal for India in the Junior 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Suhl, Germany, beating Russia 7-4 in the final on Wednesday.

Yashaswini and Anmol beat the beat the Russians, Alexander Petrov and Nadezhda Kolda, 7-4 in the gold contest.

In the semifinal, Indian team registered a total of 239.3 to outscore Korea’s score of 235.4.

Mathilde Lamolle and Nicolas Thiel of France beat Sung Yunho and Kim Woori of Korea 7-1 for the bronze medal.

44 teams from 29 nations participated in the mixed-gender team competition.

In a single shot format in which the combined better score of a team fetches it one point, the team reaching a total of seven first with at least a difference of one point wins the contest.

Although the mixed team events are not being considered for the medal tally at any of the ISSF competitions this year, they have been confirmed to be part of the shooting programme as medal events in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
