    ISSF Junior World Cup: Anish Bhanwala wins Gold in Rapid Fire Pistol

    Anish Bhanwala clinched the gold medal in junior men’s 25m rapid fire pistol at the ongoing ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany.

    The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anish, who topped the qualification with a score of 584, led from the front in the final and never registered below three hits out of five as he finished with 29 hits to claim the top spot.

    The 16-year-old, Anish, had won gold and bronze in the same event at the Junior World Cups held in Sydney and Suhl last year.

    The silver was won by Russia’s Egor Ismakov with 23 while Germany’s Florian Peter took the bronze with 19 after beating India Adarsh Singh in a shoot-off. Agneya Kaushik, the third Indian in the final finished sixth.

    Agneya (575), however, combined with Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu (571) and Udhayveer Sidhu (563) to win the team bronze with a total of 1709. They got the better of Anish (584), Adarsh Singh (574) and Harshawardhan Yadav (550), who finished a point behind in fourth. The gold was won by Germany (1713) while China (1710) won the silver.

    Shreya Agrawal, Yash Vardhan & Mehuli Ghosh, Hriday Hazarika along with gold medal winning team from Iran.

    In the mixed 10m air rifle, the Indian pair of Shreya Agrawal and Yash Vardhan topped the qualification with 420.3, but were beaten to the gold by Iran 17-11. The bronze was won by another Indian team of Mehuli Ghosh and Hriday Hazarika.

    India continued to top the medal tally with eight gold, eight silver and four bronze for a total of 20 medals while China was in the second place with six gold, four silver and five bronze for a total of 15 medals.
