    ISSF World Cup: Indian Men’s Skeet Team wins Gold

    Indian shooters continued their medal-winning spree at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in New Delhi. The trio of Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Gurjoat Khangura won the gold medal in Men’s Skeet Team, taking India’s medal tally to 14.

    India won the gold in Men’s Skeet Team after outclassing Qatar 6-2 in the gold medal match on Monday. The gold-winning performance came a little after the trio of Parninaaz Dhaliwal, Karttiki Shaktawat and Ganemat Sekhon won the silver in Women’s Skeet Team. The women’s team lost the gold medal match 4-6 to Kazakhstan.

    Notably, the trio of Mairaj, Angad and Gurjoat won India its 3rd Gold medal of the day on Monday.

    World No 1 Elavenil Valarivan and World No 2 Divyansh Singh Panwar started the gold rush by finishing on top of the podium in the Mixed 10m Air Rifle.

    The India duo shot a combined total of 16 in the gold medal match to finish ahead of World No 1 Istvan Peni and Eszter Denes of Hungary who managed 10. The Indians shot a 10.4 each in the final shot to secure the top prize while the Hungarian pair got 10.7 and 9.9.

    Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary then won the gold in the Mixed 10m Air Pistol on Monday. Manu and Saurabh beat the Iranian team of Golnoush Sebghatollahi and Javad Foroughi in the gold medal match. The Indian duo had a total of 16 points while Iran managed 12.

    India also bagged the bronze medal thanks to Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma, who beat Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Ismail Keles 17-13.

    India have so far won 6 gold, 4 silver and as many bronze medals to top the medal tally after Day 3 of the World Cup. USA is second on the table with just 6 medals.
