    ISSF World Cup: Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma win Silver and Bronze in Air Pistol

    Olympic quota winners Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma of India settled for the silver and bronze medals respectively in the Men 10m Air Pistol on the second competition day of the ongoing ISSF World Cup in New Delhi.

    The fancied World No 4 Saurabh was humbled in the final shot by Iran Javed Foroughi, currently ranked 107th in the world.

    The 41-year-old Javed, who had only 14 seconds on the clock to fire his final shot, scored a winning 10.5 after the 18-year-old Saurabh managed 9.8 in his last attempt of the gold medal round.

    Javed shot a score of 243.6 to claim the top prize and Saurabh fired 243.2 to win silver while Abhishek aggregated 221.8 to bag the bronze.

    The third Indian and Former World No 1 Shahzar Rizvi had a fortuitous entry into the regular section, after having been entered for MQS. He eventually placed fifth with 177.1.

    Sarabjot Singh who was the original entry and Ravinder Singh the second MQS entry could not compete owing to COVID positive results, along with another shooter from abroad.

    Earlier in the qualification, Asian Games gold medallist Saurabh shot the highest score of 587. Abhishek was second with 583 while Shahzar was fourth with 580.
