    National Shooting: Ankur Mittal wins Gold in Men’s Trap

    Ankur Mittal of ONGC won the gold in Men’s Trap at the ongoing 64th National Shooting Championship (Shotgun) in Patiala.

    The 29-year-old Ankur, who is the reigning World Champion in Double Trap, took the top spot of the podium with a score of 43 (117).

    Aditya Bhardwaj of Rajasthan won the silver with 40 (117) while Rayan Rizvi of Uttar Pradesh 33 (116).

    Seasoned Zoravar Sandhu of Air India topped the qualification with 119.

    Olympian Kynan Chenai of Telangana and Asian Games silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran of Haryana shot 114 and finished 10th and 11th respectively.

    Former World Champion and multiple time Asian Champion Manavjit Sandhu shot 109 and finished 35th.

    The president of NRAI, Raninder Singh shot 95 to finish 95th in a field of 221 shooters.

    19-year-old Shapath Bhardwaj of Uttarakhand won the junior gold as he pipped Vivaan Kapoor of Rajasthan 4-3 in the shoot-off after the two were tied on 41 in the final. Both also shot the same qualification score of 113.

    Aakash Kushwaha 30 (117) of Madhya Pradesh took the bronze.
