Suruchi Singh continued her meteoric rise in international shooting, claiming her third gold medal in less than 10 days by teaming up with Saurabh Chaudhary to win the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru. The Indian pair triumphed with a composed and clinical 17-9 victory over China’s Yao Qianxun and Hu Kai in the gold medal match.

At just 18 years old, Suruchi has been in sensational form this month. After capturing individual gold and mixed team bronze at the Buenos Aires World Cup last week, she followed up with another individual gold on Tuesday in Lima, capping her run with this mixed team victory. With three World Cup golds and a bronze, Suruchi has firmly solidified her place as one of the most promising talents in global shooting.

Saurabh also earned bronze in the men’s individual event in Lima, while the duo had previously claimed mixed team bronze at the Buenos Aires World Cup, defeating compatriots Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh.

In the qualification round, Suruchi shot 291 and Saurabh 289, combining for a total of 580, finishing second. The Chinese duo of Yao Qianxun (290) and Hu Kai (295) topped with 585, while Manu Bhaker (295) and Ravinder Singh (284) finished with 579, narrowly missing the gold medal match.

In the gold medal match, India seized an early lead with a perfect 10.9 from Saurabh, but China fought back, taking a 6-2 lead. A well-timed timeout by coach Samaresh Jung helped the Indian pair regain momentum. They responded with strong shots, including double 10.7s, before Suruchi delivered a perfect 10.9 to help level the score at 9-9. India then surged ahead, winning four consecutive series to seal the victory.

In the bronze medal match, Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh were defeated 16-6 by China’s Ma Qianke and Zhang Yifan, despite Manu’s strong qualification performance. The Chinese pair shot 287 and 293 respectively, totaling 580 — tying with Suruchi and Saurabh, but placing third due to fewer inner-10s.

The triumph in Lima has firmly established Suruchi and Saurabh as a formidable pairing on the world stage, with their combined talent and composure now drawing global attention.
