    Divyansh Singh Panwar beats World Record in 10m Air Rifle

    Olympian Divyansh Singh Panwar shot a score of 636.3 to beat the World Record of 635.4 set by China’s Sheng Lihao during the ISSF World Cup at the same venue in Bhopal, last month.

    Besides the brilliant qualification round, the former World No.1 also topped the 25-shot ranking round and then beat Surya Pratap Singh Banshtu 16-12 in the gold medal match to win the men 10m air rifle T4 at the ongoing National Selection Trials.

    Among the other winners from the second day of the competition, Punjab’s Sift Kaur Samra, who won her first ever ISSF medal, a bronze, at the Bhopal World Cup, won the women’s 50m rifle three positions T4 after beating Olympian Anjum Moudgil 16-4 in the gold medal contest. Tejaswini Sawant, yet another Olympian in the fray, finished third.

    In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol, Vijayveer Sidhu beat Adarsh Singh 30-24 in the gold medal match while Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar finished third.

    Among the juniors, West Bengal’s Abhinav Shaw won the men’s 10m air rifle, Haryana’s Nikita Kundu won the women’s 50m rifle three positions while Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu won the junior men’s 50m rifle.

    The ongoing shooting trials are meant to select the Indian team for important events like the ISSF World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 27 to June 7 and the Asian Games 2023, scheduled from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
