    ISSF World Cup: Shreya Agrawal misses semifinal by 0.1

    India Shreya Agrawal shot a qualification score of 629.3 in the Women 10m Air Rifle to miss out on a semifinal berth by the thinnest possible margin of 0.1 point at the ongoing ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt. The eighth qualification spot went to Hungary Eszter Meszaros who shot 629.4.

    Two other Indians in a strong field of 117 shooters, Aayushi Gupta and the reigning National Champion Rajshree Sancheti, finished further back in 37th and 53rd positions respectively. Aayushi shot 626.1 while Rajshree returned a score of 624.3.

    The first medals of the competition were won today when Italy Danilo Sollazzo struck gold in the Men 10m Air Rifle beating Slovakia Patrik Jany 16-14 in the gold medal match. Jiri Privratsky of Czech Republic took the bronze.

    Tuesday, day three of competitions at the year first World Cup, has the Men and Women 10M Air Pistol finals scheduled. In the Men event Saurabh Chaudhary, Gaurav Rana and Sarabjot Singh represent India while Esha Singh, Shri Nivetha and Ruchita Vinerkar will feature in the corresponding Women event.

    Over 500 athletes from 60 nations have entered to take part in the Cairo World Cup which has 20 medal sets on offer.
