    National Championship: Sanjeev Rajput shoots Gold in 50m Rifle Three Positions

    Olympic quota winner Sanjeev Rajput dominated the men’s 50m rifle three positions as he claimed the gold medal with a big margin of 5.1 points at the 63rd National Shooting Championship in Bhopal.

    The 38-year-old Sanjeev of Haryana, after having topped qualification with 1176/1200, maintained his fine form in the final to claim the national title with a score of 459.6.

    Chain Singh of Army won the silver while Rahul Poonia of Navy took the bronze, ahead of another quota winner Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar of Madhya Pradesh who recovered his composure to clinch the junior gold.

    In August, Sanjeev Rajput had won the quota with a silver at the ISSF World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

    The 18-year-old Aishwary won the junior gold in 50m rifle three positions with 455.0 in the final.

    Rishi Gireesh of Kerala won the silver while Sartaj Singh Tiwana of Punjab took the bronze.

    Aishwary shot a fine 1175/1200 in the qualification which is seven points more than he had shot at the Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, where he had bagged the quota with a bronze.
