    National Championship: Saurabh Chaudhary wins Gold in Air Pistol

    Saurabh Chaudhary asserted his class yet again as he won gold medal in the men 10m air pistol at the 63rd National Shooting Championship in Bhopal which concluded on Saturday.

    The 17-year-old Saurabh of Uttar Pradesh, who is touted as India’s biggest hope for an Olympic medal this year, topped qualification with a score of 583 and shot 246.4 in the final to claim the title with a clear margin of 2.5 points. Saurabh final score was 0.1 point behind the world record.

    Sarabjot Singh of Haryana won the silver while world number two Abhishek Verma settled for the bronze in a high-quality final.

    Sarabjot went on to win the junior gold. The silver was won by Boby Kaushik of Uttar Pradesh while the qualification topper Shiva Narwal of Haryana took the bronze.

    The 13-year-old Shiva also won the sub-youth gold, with his score of 583, as there was no final in the event. The silver was won by Lucky (575) of Haryana while Mukesh Nelavalli (571) of Andhra Pradesh took the bronze.

    Sharvan Kumar of Uttar Pradesh won the youth gold with 242.7 while Shiva won the silver with 242.2. The bronze was won by Naveen of Haryana.
