Olympian Rahi Sarnobat of Maharashtra won the gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol at the 62nd National Shooting Championship in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The 28-year-old Rahi shot a score of 567 to qualify on the 5th place in the final. However, Rahi was very consistent in the final. She registered three hits each in the first two rounds and followed it with four hits through the next six rounds to race ahead of the strong field which also included the likes of Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu who finished 5th and 7th respectively.
The silver was won by Pushpanjali Rana of CRPF with while Chinki Yadav of Madhya Pradesh took the bronze with 20.
Manu also looked like a strong contender for a podium finish after four rounds but registered zero and 1 hit in the next two rounds which put her out of the medal contention and she eventually finished 5th.
However, Manu overcame her disappointment in the senior category with a junior gold. The teenage shooting star from Haryana shot 24 points to claim the top spot. The silver was won by Devanshi Rana of ONGC with 18 while Neha of Uttarakhand took the bronze with 16.
