Ravi Kumar completes hat-trick of national titles in men’s air rifle

Ravi Kumar of Air Force once again successfully defended the men’s 10m air rifle title at the 62nd National Shooting Championship in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The 28-year-old Ravi shot a score of 250.2 in the final third consecutive national title after winning it in 2016 and 2017.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Ravi, took an early lead after the first 10 shots and followed it with six consecutive high 10s of minimum 10.5. He lost the lead to Sandeep Singh of Army after the later registered a perfect 10.9 on the 19th shot. Sandeep was in the gold medal position with a 0.3 point lead after the 22nd shot but it was Ravi who sealed the gold with a 10.7 and 10.3 on his last two attempts.

The silver was won by Sandeep while Keval Jashvantbhai Prajapati of Gujarat took the bronze with 229.1.

Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar of Rajasthan won the junior gold with 249.8. Another promising shooter Yash Vardhan of Rajasthan won the silver with 249.5 just 0.3 behind Aishwarya while Keval took the bronze with 227.3.

In the youth category Keval won the gold with 251.0 while Yash won the silver with 250.1. The bronze was won by Divyansh Singh Panwar (Maharashtra) 622.3 (228.7).
