    Varsha Varman, Sangram Dahiya become National Champions in Double Trap

    Varsha Varman and Sangram Dahiya won the gold in women and men’s double trap events respectively at the 63rd National Shotgun Championship being held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi.

    Haryana’s Sangram shot 142/150 to claim the top spot, five points ahead of former World Champion Ankur Mittal of ONGC.

    Prithvi Singh Chahal of Punjab won the bronze with 135.

    Sangram, Ajay Mittal (131) and Shamsher Singh Chauhan (129) also claimed the team gold for Haryana with a score of 402/450.

    In the women’s event, Varsha Varman of Madhya Pradesh shot 97/120 to win the gold four points ahead of state-mate Manish Keer. Mahima Vishwakarma took the bronze with 92 and ensured a clean sweep for Madhya Pradesh.

    Varsha also helped Madhya Pradesh (275/360) to the gold with Manisha (93) and Anam Basit (85).

    In the veteran men’s event, Yadavendra Singh of Haryana shot 116 to win the gold. The secretary general of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), D.V. Seetharama Rao of Tamil Nadu won the silver with 108 while Panchal Rohit of Gujarat took the bronze with 85.
