Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar suffered a setback before the ISSF World Cup in Munich after the marksman lost his Pardini .22 pistol during his travel.
The former army shooter finds himself in a spot of bother after the airlines in which he travelled from Delhi to Munich misplaced the pistol, which was part of his travel baggage.
“Even after two days the airlines has not been able to locate my pistol. A gun is not normal baggage which can go missing. The airline had charged a handling fee of 230 EUR at the time of boarding the flight at Delhi,” Vijay said.
Vijay will be shooting with a borrowed pistol as the stage 1 of men’s 25m rapid fire pistol will be held today followed by stage 2 on Sunday.
It may be recalled that in 2006 the same airlines had misplaced Rajyavardhan Rathore’s shotgun as the marksman was on his way back after winning a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo. Later after a very high level of inquiry, Rathore got his gun back.
